Welcome to Sincere Russian Brides, a blog dedicated to talking about everything related to finding and bringing home your Russian bride. As our name suggests there are sincere Russian women who are serious in their intentions of finding a foreign man for marriage and creating a happy family.
However, there are Russian women and men that are not so sincere and are only out to take your money. For that reason we have dedicated our very first post to tips on avoiding Russian scammers.
When you’re online dating, looking for love and hopefully a lasting relationship with a Russian bride, the last thing you want is to run into someone who is after something totally different – your money. Russian online dating sites wage an ongoing battle against online dating scammers and many of the reputable sites take definitive steps to identify and stop these criminals. Still, you should always keep your wits about you as you get to know ladies online so that you have a great experience and are not caught up in any tricks.
Here are some red flags that you should be looking out for as a warning of a likely online dating scam.
Falling in love too soon
Genuine relationships take time to develop and grow. If you are in contact with a woman, have exchanged a few e-mails back and forth with her, and she is already madly in love with you, beware. Sincere Russian women looking for a serious relationship will be choosier and won’t usually move so fast. If you barely know a woman and she is already calling you “darling”, “honey” and other endearing names, and wanting to fly over to meet you, that’s a big red flag that she is an online dating scammer trying to take a shortcut to her goal of asking you for money. Tell her that things are moving too fast, and the chances are that if her intentions are less than honest, she’ll stop writing to you and move on to easier prey.
Generic copy-paste form letters
If you are writing to a Russian bride and her e-mails seem stiff and generic, it is a sign that she is possibly using them to communicate easily with several guys at once. Often, these letters will be customized to reflect things you have asked her or spoken about, but you should still be able to tell a genuine e-mail from one that has been written to have mass appeal. Obvious errors in the e-mail, your name written in all capitals, and especially when the e-mail ignores things you have said or is addressed to another person are all huge warning signs that something is wrong.
Asking for money
An online dating scammer’s ultimate goal is your money, and many of them are masters at using a variety of sob stories to pull at your heartstrings and get you to hand over your cash. The story could revolve around needing money to care for a sick child or parent, or for school, internet connections and so on. Keep in mind that most honest and self respecting Russian women would not ask someone they barely know and have never met for money. Even if they have a genuine need, begging for help is widely seen as an inappropriate thing to do.
Never send any money. Think about it: you are after developing a meaningful relationship with a Russian woman who will hopefully love you back for who you are, and the fact that you are funding a woman’s lifestyle will most definitely get in the way and skew her true feelings for you.
Tourist visa and airline ticket scams
When you’re talking to a Russian girl, you obviously would like to meet her, and that desire is one that could make you an easy target for online dating scammers. If your Russian bride tells you that she has a tourist visa for the US and just needs money for her airline ticket, keep in mind that is it very difficult for a foreigner to obtain a tourist visa in the first place, unless her country belongs to a Visa Waiver program.
The worst online dating scammers set up a whole string of requests, where a series of problems crop up that only your money can solve. First the woman asks for some money for airline tickets, then she ‘finds out’ she needs more money for visa processing fees, and later she tells you how she ‘just got to know’ that she won’t be allowed to leave her country unless she can show that she has a significant amount of spending money to support herself abroad.
The amounts requested typically start out small, and get progressively larger, and many victims find it hard to escape from the online dating scam once they have already handed over a significant amount of money and they told there is just ‘one last hurdle’ between them and their love.
Keep your wits about you
Never let your emotions and desires get the better of you. If things seem to be working out so fast and perfectly with a Russian bride that it seems too good to be true, then it probably is. The secret to happy and successful online dating is to go slowly and build a solid relationship step by step.
Always be on the lookout for online dating scams and report any signs of abuse to the online dating site so that they can take action. Be very careful with the personal details that you share with a woman, especially in the early stages of your relationship. Remember that many online dating scammers are highly organized and are some are actually guys working in a group writing e-mails and using trained actresses to call you on the phone persuade you that you are in contact with a genuine Russian lady.
Take your online dating easy, be cautious and aware, and hopefully you’ll soon get in touch with your Russian love of your life. Good luck!
